Gather What Has Grown, Trust What Is Still Ripening, and Prepare for the Turn Toward Autumn
Spiritually, late summer is a threshold between the fullness of summer and the inward turn of autumn. It invites you to gather what has grown, trust what is still ripening, release the need to control what comes next, and restore your balance before the season shifts. This is a time for clarity, reflection, rest, and preparing to move forward with deeper intention.

The Energy of Late Summer

Late summer is the season from Lughnasadh to Autumn Equinox. It is not as outward and fiery as early summer, but it’s not fully autumnal yet either. It’s a threshold. Summer is still unfolding, but something is beginning to change. There’s a cool breeze that calls to mind autumn; you may begin to notice the sun setting earlier in the evening; grass is turning brown. Everywhere we look, the Earth is beginning to reveal what this season has been quietly growing.
The light is still high. The sun is still shining. And with it comes clarity, insight, and the reminder that you don’t have to force the path forward — you just have to walk it.
As we move toward the Autumn Equinox, the work of late summer becomes clear: gather what has grown, release what has run its course, restore balance, and prepare to enter the next season with more clarity and intention.

Gather What Has Grown
Lughnasadh marked the first harvest of the year. It’s the kickoff to harvest season. And at this time of year we can see with our own eyes and feel the energy as different elements reach their fullness and are ready to harvest.
Remember that often our most meaningful harvests are not external accomplishments. It’s especially important at this time of year to recognize those quieter achievements — shifts you’ve noticed, changes you’ve implemented, insights you’ve gleaned. ****

Trust What Is Still Ripening

You may find that some things are not yet ready to be harvested. That’s okay, too — look to nature and see that while the tomatoes may be ready, fruit is still ripening on the tree.
The path doesn’t require force. It asks for faith. You can trust that things are unfolding in their own wild, wise timing.

Release What Has Run Its Course
You don’t have to carry everything into autumn. You can release the need to control the outcome. You can begin to loosen your grip on the old story, the old fear, the old pattern — and trust that something wiser is unfolding in its own time.
ASK YOURSELF:
- What clarity is rising for you right now?
- What old story might be ready to release?

Restore Balance
Late summer can feel full and heavy — bright with sun, busy with harvest, and thick with the lingering heat of the season. This season reminds us of the importance of rest: the siesta, the shade, the sacred pause that allows us to keep going.
There is still more work to do, more life to live, more growth still unfolding. Rest helps you continue tending what matters. It helps you receive what you’ve already grown, and carry this energy forward into what comes next.

Move Forward With Clarity and Intention
The invitation of this time of year is to:
- Listen closely for what’s being revealed.
- Receive the clarity that’s ready to shine through.
- Trust that everything is unfolding in its own wild, wise timing.
A simple way to receive this clarity is to write in your journal. Try asking:
- What am I still trying to control?
- What old fear or story am I ready to release before autumn begins?
Don’t make this homework — this isn’t for anyone but you. Just let whatever comes be what comes.
Let late summer show you what has grown, what is still ripening, what is ready to be released, and what you want to carry with you as you cross the threshold into autumn.
